“Hello, my name is Daria and I am 16 years old. I do the IB programme in one of the highschools in Wrocław and I'm in a third grade. I became a volunteer in the „Inbetween Culture and Social" Foundation in September. When it comes to my interests, it is my 10th year of being a violinist and I absolutely love music. I also like to cook and read. My goal for the next couple of years is to do well on my final exams and, thanks to that, study some social sciences abroad.

When I was asked to attend the training, I was certain that I was going to listen to some lectures about the design thinking and I would use the techniques I would learn about during completing the tasks for my volunteer work. In fact, we were divided into two groups, about seven people in each one, and we needed to come up with an idea for a social project. My group was awesome, we got along very well so creating something together wasn't much of a problem for us. First, we needed to choose the topic of our campaign. We decided to prepare the project on the neighbourhood integration. Then we were thinking about the reasons of the problem that we wanted to find a solution for – why neighbours aren't close to each other. We were also familiarized with some techniques of how to efficiently and maturely solve our problems. Later, we discussed our ideas for the digital work we want to present – some slogans, logo designs or posters. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet new people, exchange opinions, work on our technical skills, learn about design thinking and create some materials for a realistic social project. I am sure that this experience will help me to become a more aware volunteer and the skills I acquired will be really useful in the future.”

“Im a student in the IB DP class at one of the high schools in Wrocław. I enjoy
traveling and Italian cuisine.
Recently, I participated in Helpton Youth, Thinking
Desing, organized by the Umbrella Foundation in Wrocław. Together with Daria from our
Foundation and a small group of young people Sara launched a social campaign lilted
“Conversation is Key” – a project that reminds people of the simplest way to build
relationships, where mutual attentiveness and everyday kindness are important – the very
things that bring people closer together. The goal of the campaign is to encourage breaking
down barriers, building small bridges, initiating brief conversations, and creating a strong and
cohesive community.”

What is my experience of creating the social project during the training in November?
